Shell & Scale is designed so that your weight history remains yours. The app does not require an account, does not include advertising, and does not build an analytics profile about you.
Information stored by the app
Weight entries, dates, optional context stamps, display preferences, reminder preferences, and your turtle's name are stored locally on your iPhone using Apple's on-device storage technologies. Shell & Scale does not operate a server that receives or stores this information.
Health and weight data
Your weight history is not transmitted to Shell & Scale. It is not sold, used for advertising, or shared with data brokers. The app does not connect to Apple Health in the current version.
Purchases
Subscriptions and lifetime purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Apple provides the app with limited transaction information needed to confirm whether access is active. Shell & Scale does not receive your payment card information. Apple's handling of purchase information is governed by Apple's own privacy policy.
Reminders
If you enable a gentle daily reminder, the app asks iOS for notification permission and schedules the reminder locally on your device. Shell & Scale does not receive the reminder time or a record of whether you opened a notification.
Feedback and support
When you choose to contact support, Shell & Scale opens your email app with basic app version, device type, and iOS version information to help troubleshoot. No weight or health data is attached automatically. Any information you include in the email is provided voluntarily and is used only to respond to your request and improve the app.
Website
This website does not use advertising cookies or behavioral analytics. Basic security and delivery logs may be processed temporarily by our hosting provider to operate and protect the site.
Your choices
You can export your weight history as a CSV file from Settings. You can also erase all app data from Settings. Deleting the app removes its locally stored data from that iPhone, subject to any device backups you control through Apple.
Children's privacy
Shell & Scale is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Material changes will be reflected here with a new effective date.
